Completing Transactions

Logging in to client accounts, allows you to securely and conveniently transact on your client's American Funds accounts anytime you choose, including buying, selling and exchanging shares.

Go to the login button at the top of any page and click, Log in to Client Accounts. You just need your Vision ID and password. Our cybersecurity response program utilizes encryption and industry standard protocols to create a secure online environment to protect your client's accounts.

To transact on an account, select the client from the Assets & Client List, or use the Client Search bar to locate a specific client. The client's name appears at the top of the portfolio. Each account can be easily identified by the account number and registration, and the current value displayed above the transaction bar.

Processing a transaction online is easy. From the desired account, click on the transaction you wish to process, including buying or purchasing shares into the account, selling shares, and sending the assets by a check or ACH, and exchanging or rebalancing the account. After clicking the transaction, step-by-step instructions walk you through the process. In this example, selling shares from an IRA includes providing tax withholding instructions and the desired payment method.

You can easily verify the account you're working with by the account number and registration at the top of the screen. Step one displays each fund in the account and its current balance. As you enter the amount for a specific fund, the transaction is totaled beneath the list. Any important messages related to your transaction, are displayed below.

As you move forward, a summary of the selections you've made, appears on the right. For a distribution from a retirement account, you can elect a withholding amount and see the balance of the transaction that will be sent to the client. The final selection required for this transaction, is how the distribution will be delivered, including options for expedited delivery. Accounts with existing bank information on file, include the option to send via ACH.

The summary allows you to easily edit the selections made for the transaction. Lastly, you can review the entire transaction prior to submitting. This screen displays the account, transaction details, including any amounts being deducted from the check for tax withholding and expedited delivery, the total dollar amount to sell from the account, and any important messages or considerations. You must click Submit to confirm the transaction.

Once submitted, you'll receive a confirmation, including the trade date, based on the time the transaction was confirmed, and the transaction details.
