U.S. bank, savings and loan, and credit union accounts can be linked to your clients’ accounts.
Yes, certain bank account types can be linked to your clients’ accounts by adding the wire transfer option. This option can only be added for wire transfers of American Funds U.S. Government Money Market Fund in Class A, Class C and Class F shares. Refer to the Distribution guide for more information.
The wire transfer option is not eligible to be added to the following account types:
A bank account can be added online for ACH purchases if the primary account owner is listed in the bank account registration.
When a bank account is added online, the new bank account information will not be automatically propagated to existing automatic investment plans. Any automatic investment plans must also be individually updated with the new bank account information.
Note: Federal regulations designed to improve investor security require immediate verification of bank accounts added online. If your client’s bank doesn’t participate with the online bank verification system, you’ll be prompted to complete a form.
Complete the Add/Update Bank Information form and include a voided check. Once the bank account is added, there is a 10-calendar-day wait before the option can be used.
A signature guarantee is required if the account owner is not listed in the bank registration or if the account owner would like to use the ACH withdrawal option within the first 10 days of adding the bank.
For automatic withdrawal plans, a bank account must be on file for at least 10 calendar days prior to the first draft date, unless a signature guarantee is provided.
