Most of the options that are available to you online are also available through FundsLine, our 24-hour automated touch-tone phone service at (800) 421-4225.

To buy shares by mail, send a check for a minimum of $50 per fund/account made payable to either American Funds Service Company or the fund in which you are investing.

For retirement plan accounts for which Capital Bank and Trust Company (CB&T) is the custodian, please make your check payable to Capital Bank and Trust Company.

Include an investment form (from your most recent confirmation or a booklet of investment forms) with your check and mail it to the American Funds Service Company address in your region.

Call us if you need a booklet of investment forms. However, you can also send a letter providing your account number(s) with your check.

Yields

Yields are calculated using the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) formula. Yields represent past results and will fluctuate. The money market fund yield reflects the most current 7-day period annualized.

The 30-day yield is provided for all other funds.

Investment returns

Total returns and average annual total returns quoted at American FundsLine, our 24-hour automated touch-tone phone service, represent past results through the end of the most recent calendar quarter and are not predictive of future results.

Returns shown in the Investments section of our website represent past results through the most recent month-end. These returns are calculated in accordance with SEC rules, which reflect deduction of the appropriate sales charge with all distributions reinvested.

Share price and return will vary, so you may lose money investing in the funds. The shorter the time period of your investment, the greater the possibility of loss.

Money market checks

If you are authorized for check-writing privileges and invest in American Funds U.S. Government Money Market Fund℠, you can order checks online for Class A share accounts.

You can also call a Shareholder Services Representative. A book of 20 checks will be mailed, generally within 3 weeks. Check writing is available only for Class A shares of the money market fund.

Transaction requests

American Funds Service Company assumes no responsibility for transaction requests that are sent but not received.

If you are eligible to sell or exchange shares or rebalance your account by phone and online, these features will automatically be available unless you opt out of them.

To opt out, you must notify us with verbal or written instruction. If you decide later that you’d like to reinstate these features, please send us a signature guaranteed letter of instruction.

Unless you decide not to have telephone or online services on your account(s), you agree to hold the fund, American Funds Service Company, any of its affiliates or mutual funds managed by such affiliates, and each of their respective directors, trustees, officers, employees and agents harmless from any losses, expenses, costs or liabilities (including attorney fees) which may be incurred in connection with the exercise of these privileges, provided American Funds Service Company employs reasonable procedures to confirm that the instructions received from any person with appropriate account information are genuine.

If reasonable procedures are not employed, the fund may be liable for losses due to unauthorized or fraudulent instructions.

Portfolio views enable you to organize and manage different American Funds accounts online. For example, you can create a view that includes accounts tied to a specific goal (e.g., retirement or college) or to specific people (e.g., your accounts, your children’s accounts or your parents’ accounts).

To create a custom view, log in to your account and click Your Portfolio Views near the top of Your Portfolio page. Then select Manage Your Views and follow the on-screen instructions.

To help protect your privacy, some accounts may not be eligible for a custom view. These accounts may include entities, custodial accounts and accounts set up for minors. In these instances, the Your Portfolio View link will not appear. To create a portfolio view, you must first log in with an eligible account.

Investments are not FDIC-insured, nor are they deposits of or guaranteed by a bank or any other entity, so they may lose value.
