Why sign up for paperless delivery?

Paperless delivery of quarterly statements, tax forms and other documents can save over 120 pieces of paper per year.

In addition to saving paper, paperless delivery also gives you:

  • Easier recordkeeping, with current and past documents in one location
  • Secure and fast access to your documents
  • Email notifications as soon as your documents are available    

Note: Certain American Funds accounts (e.g., some 401(k) and 403(b) accounts) are not eligible for paperless delivery through our website.

Paperless delivery FAQs

Log in to your account. At the top of Your Portfolio page, click the "Go Paperless” link.

If you’re not already registered on our website, you will have the opportunity to update your communication preferences when you register. Make sure you have the account number (which can be found on your account statement) and the last four digits of the primary account holder’s Social Security number. You can manage your communication preferences at any time.

If you hold American Funds through your bank or your advisor’s firm, you’ll need to contact them for paperless delivery options or use an electronic delivery service.

Receive everything electronically, or you can choose from the following:

  • Quarterly account statements
  • Account confirmations
  • Prospectuses and investor reports
  • Tax forms

You will receive mailed paper copies of some documents, regardless of your communication preferences, due to compliance or security reasons, such as proxy voting letters and account change notifications.

Quarterly and year-end statements: You will receive an email 2 to 3 days after the end of the quarter notifying you that your latest statement is available online.

Account confirmations: When you process a transaction, you will receive an account confirmation via email in 1 to 2 business days.

Prospectuses and investor reports: You will receive an email notification when prospectuses and annual and semi-annual reports have been updated and are available.

Tax forms: You will receive an email notification as soon as your tax form is available to view and download. For more information on availability, see the tax form schedule in our Tax Center. You will generally have access to statements for the current quarter and two years prior. Year-end account statements and tax forms are available for the last 10 years or when you opened your account (whichever is later).
