How to import your tax information

For TurboTax Online, navigate to the Tax Forms section.

Tax forms

1. Select the Federal tab
2. Select Wages & Income
3. Under Your Income, choose which tax documents to include and select Start
4. When prompted to import forms, select Continue
5. Under Let’s Import Your Tax Info, use the search box to look for American Funds. Select the search result or logo when it appears.
    

Import your tax information

1. Enter your fund number and account number separated by a dash. For example: 01-12345678 (no spaces). Fund and account numbers can be found on your quarterly statement.
   
2. Enter your Capital Group account online password
3. Complete the 2-step verification process
4. Accept the terms and conditions
5. Select Get My Form
6. Complete any verification steps:
   • Choose the information to import and select Continue
   • Check the box next to each item to import
   • Uncheck boxes that correspond to tax information you don’t want to import
7. To import from a different financial institution, select Add Investment. Otherwise, select Confirm.

The Import Summary screen will appear if your tax information successfully imported.

Repeat the import steps referenced above for each fund or account.

For each of your funds in your Capital Group account, you can import tax information from forms 1099-DIV, 1099-B and 1099-R.

TurboTax will help you enter information about your investments that were sold during the import process. When available, cost basis information is included on Form 1099-B, which is mailed to you in late January.

You can also review your tax forms online.

To ensure that you file your tax return properly, it’s recommended that you use the most current version of TurboTax Online.

Overview

1. Go to the Federal tab
2. Select Income

1. Select Add Income
2. Select the form to add:
   • Form 1099-R: Retirement plan income, distributions and rollovers
   • Form 1099-Div: Dividends or capital gain distributions
   • Form 1099-B: Sales of stocks, bonds, mutual funds and other securities
3. Select Next. If needed, select See More Income Types.
4. Select Start next to the form to import

Financial institution

1. If Capital Group-American Funds doesn’t appear, select Other
2. In the Financial Institution field, enter Capital Group
   • If you receive a prompt of How do you want to add your 1099-DIV? select Upload a File
   • Select Next
   • When Capital Group appears in the box below, select it
3. Select Next

Import from your American Funds® in your Capital Group account

1. Enter your fund number and account number separated by a dash. For example: 01-12345678 (no spaces). Fund and account numbers can be found on your quarterly statement.
2. Enter your Capital Group account online password
3. Complete the 2-step verification process
4. Accept the terms and conditions
5. Select Import
6. On the Capital Group-American Funds page, review all the forms and select Finish

Imported information

1. To review or delete the form:
   • If you are importing the form, select the pencil icon
   • If you are deleting the form, select the X icon
2. Select Next to review any other forms that were imported for your account. When complete, select The Info is Correct.
