Newsroom Capital Group Opens Charlotte East Coast Operations Hub, Marking Milestone in Long-Term Growth Strategy and Commitment to North Carolina

Ribbon-cutting ceremony reinforces commitment to operational resilience, talent investment, client outcomes and community impact

CHARLOTTE, N.C. September 29, 2026 — Capital Group, one of the world’s largest and most experienced active investment managers, today celebrated the opening of its Charlotte East Coast Operations Hub with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by firm leaders, associates, community partners and elected officials, including North Carolina Governor Josh Stein.

The firm announced plans to establish Charlotte as its East Coast Operations Hub earlier this year as part of its broader Global Location Strategy. The new office will support a broad range of operational, technology and business capabilities and reflects Capital Group's continued investment in building a resilient global operating model that will help deliver strong outcomes for clients around the world. The new location will also create opportunities for associates and strengthen business continuity. The Charlotte hub is expected to grow to approximately 500 to 700 associates over time, working alongside Capital Group's existing West Coast operations hub in Irvine, California.

"At Capital Group, we take a long-term approach to every investment we make, including how we build our global footprint," said Rob Klausner, Chief Operating Officer at Capital Group. "Charlotte expands access to exceptional talent across a broad range of disciplines, from operational and investment capabilities to emerging technology fields such as AI and agentic engineering. As we continue to grow and evolve, investments like this help ensure we're positioned to deliver the service, partnership and long-term outcomes our clients expect for decades to come."

North Carolina Governor Josh Stein welcomed the investment and its impact on the state's workforce. "Charlotte is the country’s second-largest financial center, and people want to be part of what we’re building. These investments from Capital Group will bring new good-paying jobs for North Carolina’s top-tier financial services workforce.”

Charlotte and Mecklenburg County leaders highlighted the long-term impact Capital Group's presence could have on the region's workforce, economy and community. “Charlotte has a long legacy of companies that understand being part of this community means more than simply doing business here, it means investing in the people and places that make our city special,” said Charlotte Mayor Rob Harrington. “Capital Group is demonstrating that commitment. We’re excited about the high-paying jobs and opportunities they are bringing to our community, but equally excited about their commitment to give back and be a true partner in Charlotte. This is a long-term investment, and we look forward to seeing its impact for years to come.”

Mecklenburg County leaders also pointed to the hub’s potential to expand long-term career opportunities across the region. “The opening of Capital Group’s East Coast Operations Hub is a meaningful win for Mecklenburg County. This investment affirms the strength of our community’s broad, highly skilled workforce and expands our residents’ access to stable, long-term career opportunities,” said Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners Chair Mark Jerrell. “We’re proud to welcome a company that values people, partnership and place, and we celebrate the positive impact this hub will have for Mecklenburg County and the entire region.”

Capital Group leaders echoed the emphasis on long-term partnership. "Opening our doors today is an important milestone, and this is just the beginning," said Brian Grantham, Head of Transformation and Chair of Capital Group's Charlotte Leadership Team. "We've been welcomed by an incredible network of partners across business, government, education and the nonprofit community, and we're grateful for the support that helped make this moment possible. As we continue to grow, we're committed to becoming an active member of the Charlotte community and building something that creates value for our associates, our clients and this region for years to come."

Investing in Charlotte's Future

Capital Group is proud to bring its long tradition of giving back to its communities to Charlotte. Recognizing the strength of the city’s nonprofit sector, the firm is launching a dedicated Charlotte cohort of its Community Wealth Council — Capital Group’s national program for nonprofit leaders focused on expanding access to financial education and opportunity. Interested organizations can express interest now ahead of applications opening in January 2027.

Launched in 2025, the Community Wealth Council is a fellowship leadership development and grant program designed for nonprofit leaders working to advance financial education programs in their communities. Selected nonprofits receive $50,000 in grant funding and take part in a 10-month cohort-based learning experience that includes mentorship from financial advisors, interactive workshops and collaborative project-based learning.  The program builds on Capital Group’s broader culture of giving back: more than 80% of associates participate in the firm’s philanthropy efforts, and last year Capital Group supported over 8,000 nonprofits worldwide with donations totaling nearly $70 million.

"Capital Group's commitment to Charlotte extends beyond our office walls," said Alexis Rosenblum, Global Head of Sustainability and Social Responsibility at Capital Group. "As we put down roots in this community, we want to support the organizations and leaders working to expand opportunity and strengthen financial well-being across the region. The Community Wealth Council is one way we hope to make a long-term contribution to Charlotte, working alongside community leaders to help more people build financial knowledge, confidence and economic opportunity.”
