Luxembourg SICAVs and UK OEICs are types of collective investment schemes that pool money from many investors to invest in a range of assets, including stocks, bonds and other securities. Both are considered “open-ended” because they can issue and redeem shares to meet investor demand. The main differences relate to the underlying legal structure, domicile, taxation and regulatory oversight.
Luxembourg SICAV
A Société d'investissement à Capital Variable, or SICAV, is a publicly-traded open-end investment fund structure. It is authorised and regulated by the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) in Luxembourg.
UK OEIC
An open-ended investment company, or OEIC, is a type of UK-based investment fund that is structured as a company in order to invest in stocks and other securities. It is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
Capital Group is developing a range of UK-domiciled funds within an OEIC structure, complementing our long-established Luxembourg SICAV range. For more information, visit Fund centre.
