Jumbo was the existing Argentine hypermarket business of Cencosud S.A. Jumbo owned a majority of Disco S.A., the second largest Argentine supermarket chain, acquired from Ahold by Cencosud in November 2004. Jumbo was the fifth largest retailer in Argentina with stores that are the top-end in the market. Disco was the second largest retailer and had one of the most recognizable brand names in the country.
