Guide to Investing

Information

The Capital Group Luxembourg funds are designed to help investors achieve their long-term goals including retirement, covering children's costs or buying a house.

As a Capital Group associate, you are eligible to invest in the Capital Group Luxembourg funds with additional benefits such as reduced management fees, no sales charges and more.

Eligibility to invest in the Capital Group Luxembourg funds for CG Associates and their family members:

  • CG associates and their family members must currently reside outside of United States and have no intention to permanently relocate to living in the United States (for US citizens/persons, please contact Client_Operations@capgroup.com to verify eligibility).

This section describes how to go about investing in the Capital Group Luxembourg funds for CG associates, family members and minors as well as setting up direct debit investment plans.

Please contact Client Operations if you wish you establish a Trust account. Given the complexity and time required to open such accounts, the account opening request will be evaluated in conjunction with Compliance before being accepted.

Follow this brief, step-by-step procedure to open an account in a Capital Group Luxembourg fund.

Please note that the process differs slightly for family members.

Investor steps:

  1. Email the following documents to Client_Operations@capgroup.com:
    • Completed Account Opening Form (signed and dated)
    • Photocopy of valid ID/Passport which bears the investor’s signature and picture
    • A recent copy of a utility bill (< 6 months) containing the address of the investor as mentioned in the account opening form

  2. Source of Wealth (SOW) documents to prove source of funds (i.e. Last pay slip, annual tax declaration, etc)

For confidentiality reasons, email SOW documents directly to JPMorgan capital.ta@jpmorgan.com with their unique reference number (will be provided by Client Operations team after Step 1).

  3. Once your account has been opened, Client Operations Team will email your new account number. You will then be able to place your first subscription.

  4. Please contact Client_Operations@capgroup.com if you would like to have online access to JPMorgan Lux Investor Portal. Online access may be subjected to restrictions and limitations.

  5. If you are a covered* associate or family member residing in the same household, you must report your securities transactions to the Personal Investing Committee (PICO), consider automating this reporting by completing the PICO Authorisation form.

* ’Covered associates’ are associates with access to non-public information relating to current or imminent fund/client transactions, investment recommendations or fund portfolio holdings.

CG Associates step for family members

The CG Associate should email Client_Operations@capgroup.com with a self-declaration form to declare the relationship between the CG associate and investor. We recommend the CG Associate to include their family member (investor) in the email.

For existing CG associates family members investor who wish to open additional account(s), it is not required to provide another self-declaration form.

Opening a new account for minors

There are various ways to set up accounts for minors. The account can be opened in the name of the minor, or it can be opened for the benefit of the minor. To find out more details and to determine which scenario best suits your needs, please contact Client Operations Team.

Please note that the required identification documents may vary depending on how you want the account to be registered and must be sent together with the account opening documents. In all cases, the minor, his or her legal guardians and any joint shareholders must be identified.

When the minor turns 18

The age of majority will be determined by the laws of the country of citizenship of the minor. In most countries, the age of majority is reached at 18 years of age.

Complete, sign and date the Age of Majority Form.

Send the original form and any additional documents to the Capital Group Investor Services mailing address.

Please note that the required identification documents may vary depending on how you want the account to be registered and must be sent together with the completed Age of Majority Form. For more information, please contact IST Client Operations Team.

Warnings

A full list of risks, of which you should be aware before investing, is included in the Key Investor Information Documents (KIIDs) and the fund’s prospectus.

Some of the risks include:

  • The value of shares and income can go down as well as up and you may lose some or all of your initial investment.
  • Past results are not a guide to future results.
  • Currency risk: if the currency in which you invest strengthens against the currency in which the underlying investments of the fund are made, the value of your investment will decrease.
  • Income risk: the yield on a bond can increase or decrease, particularly when interest rates change.
  • Inflation risk: inflation can erode the value of your investment, making your money worth less.

The prospectus and Key Investor Information Document set out risks, which, depending on the fund, may include risks associated with investing in emerging markets and/or high yield securities.

We invite you to carefully read the section “Risk and reward profile” in the relevant KIID and “Risk Warnings” in the relevant fund(s)’ prospectus.

In line with our investment philosophy, investments in funds should be considered long-term investments.

All account activity, including that of CG associates and their family members, is monitored to prevent improper trading (market timing and/or frequent trading), which can have a negative impact on all investors in a fund.

In particular, you may be contacted if there is a redemption or switch in your account within 60 days of a subscription (or vice versa).
