Jonathan Bell Lovelace believed that fundamental research is essential to achieving superior long-term investment results. The small company he founded in 1931 has grown into one of the world’s most respected financial institutions.
LOS ANGELES — Capital Group, home of American Funds and one of the world’s leading investment management firms, announced today the addition of Sue Walton to its defined contribution team.
Walton has nearly 20 years of experience in the investment industry and has focused exclusively on defined contribution plans for the past 12 years. Most recently, she was a director at Towers Watson Investment Services, providing investment consulting primarily to defined contribution plans. She was also part of the Towers Watson Defined Contribution Steering Committee, which is responsible for developing investment strategies and researching defined contribution issues and trends. Prior to joining Towers Watson, Walton was with Mercer Investment Consulting.
“We are excited to have Sue join our team given her extensive retirement industry experience,” said Bill Anderson, Director of Institutional Product Management. “As the retirement marketplace continues to evolve, we want to ensure that Capital Group has the resources and experience in place to help serve plan sponsors, consultants and advisors.”
As a senior defined contribution specialist, Walton will be a visible resource to help plan sponsors, investment consultants, intermediaries and Capital Group sales force members offer the best solutions to improve plan participant outcomes and retirement readiness. She joins Toni Brown, CFA, and John Doyle in Capital Group’s team of professionals focusing on the defined contribution industry.
“I am very pleased to be joining Capital Group given its outstanding commitment to the DC retirement market,” Walton said. “Defined contribution plans and investment options, including target date funds, are fast becoming the primary way Americans save for retirement. Capital Group is well positioned to help provide institutions with the products and services to put their employees on a path to a successful retirement.”
Walton received her MBA from DePaul University with a concentration in finance. She also has a Bachelor of Science from Marquette University with majors in economics, international business and German.
