Update your account information
You can use our website — or forms provided on our website — to update the following account information:
1. Mailing address/Phone number
To change your address and/or phone number, log in and click Profile & Settings. Then go to the Profile tab and click Change next to your address.
Important note about address changes and redemptions: For your protection, redemption requests within 10 calendar days of an address change must be received in writing with a signature guarantee from a member firm of a domestic stock exchange or the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority® (FINRA®), bank, savings association or credit union that is an elibigle guarantor. A notary public is not an acceptable guarantor. Employer-sponsored retirement plans, shareholders living overseas and some broker-controlled accounts may not be able to use the address change option on the website.
To change your name, find your account type in the table below. Then follow the instructions to the right.
- Individual 403(b)
- 529 (owner’s name)
- Coverdell (authorized person’s name)
- UGMA/UTMA (custodian’s name)
Download and complete the Name Change Request (PDF).
You must either:
- Have your former and new name validated in Section 2 of the form.
- Provide a legal name document (e.g., a divorce decree, marriage certificate or legal name change certificate). A photocopy is acceptable and can be:
College Savings — Successor owner
Download and complete the CollegeAmerica® Account Change Request (PDF).
The form can be:
- Uploaded to our website
- Sent via fax to (888) 421-4351
- Sent via mail to the service center in your region
You may also be able to make the change online. Log in to your account and click View under Beneficiary Information on the right side of the page.
3. Email address
To change your email address, log in to your account, go to Profile & Settings, then choose the Profile tab. Click Change next to your email address.
4. User name
To change your user name, log in and click Profile & Settings. Then go to the Profile tab and click Change next to your user name.
Keep in mind that your user name:
- Must be between 6 and 32 characters (no symbols)
- Must contain at least one letter
- Is not case-sensitive
- Must contain no spaces
To change your password, log in and click Profile & Settings. Then go to the Profile tab and click Change next to Account Password.
If you forgot your password, you can request a one-time passcode to reset it. You may also call us at (800) 421-4225 for assistance.
6. Bank account or account number
To change your bank or bank account number, log in and click Profile & Settings. Then go to the Profile tab to change your bank information.
