By the 1960s, Capital had become a global investing trailblazer, investing in companies worldwide. But as our global research capabilities expanded, we found that investment data for global markets was scarce.
So we created the Capital International indices, now known as the Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) indices, to help evaluate companies and compare their results with global competitors. In other words, we put the CI in MSCI, and established global indices that would become the foundation for MSCI global indices.*
