Capital Group - Cookie Notice
Last revised: September 3, 2026
Introduction
This Cookie Notice supplements our Privacy Notices and applies to the use of cookies and similar technologies (collectively “cookies”) on the Capital Group and its affiliates’ websites (our “Websites”). The purpose of this Cookie Notice is to explain what cookies are, how they work, the categories of cookies we use, the legal basis and purposes for processing personal information (together “Personal Information”) collected through cookies, how you can control your cookie preferences when you visit our Websites and your rights.
“Capital Group”, “we”, “us” or “our” means The Capital Group Companies, Inc., and each of the direct or indirect subsidiaries or affiliates of The Capital Group Companies, Inc.
This Cookie Notice should be read in conjunction with the Privacy Notice applicable to your jurisdiction.
This Cookie Notice does not apply to any domains that we do not own or control, or to any third-party domains where Capital Group advertisements may be displayed.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website transfers to your device through a browser that enable the website’s or a third party’s systems to recognize your device and capture and remember certain information. Cookies enable websites and applications to function properly, improve security, remember visitor preferences, measure performance, and personalize content and advertising. In addition to cookies we set directly, our Websites also support third-party cookies placed by our service providers and by third parties, such as our advertising partners.
Are there other types of tracking technologies used on our Websites?
In addition to cookies, we use other types of tracking technologies such as:
- Pixels (Web Beacons): These are small graphic images or snippets of code embedded in webpages, advertisements, or emails that enable the collection of information about user interactions, such as page visits, email opens, advertisement views, and other engagement activities.
- Local Storage: These are technologies that store data directly within a user’s browser or device to retain preferences, improve website functionality, remember settings, and support performance and user experience features.
- Software Development Kits (“SDKs”): These are software components integrated into websites or mobile applications that enable various functionality. In some cases, SDKs may collect and transfer Personal Information for purposes such as analytics, authentication, advertising, performance monitoring, and user engagement tracking.
- Other tags: These are tracking technologies that include scripts, embedded code, Application Programming Interfaces (“APIs”), and tag management tools that facilitate functions including website operations, analytics, advertising delivery, personalization, security, and the measurement of user interactions with our Websites.
These technologies may be used to recognize users and devices across sessions or platforms, understand how you interact with our Websites, improve website performance, functionality and user experience, measure the effectiveness of marketing and advertising campaigns, support analytics, reporting and business operations, and detect security incidents.
Information collected through these technologies may include IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system information, referral URLs, pages viewed, clicks, timestamps, geolocation data, and other online activity or usage information.
When we use the term “cookie” in this Policy, that term is intended to include all of these technologies.
What types of cookies do we use?
- Necessary (or “Essential”) Cookies: These are cookies that are required for the operation, security, and core functionality of our Websites. They are cookies that enable fundamental features such as page navigation, secure access, session management, authentication, network management, and the delivery of services requested by you. Because these cookies are required for our Websites to operate, they are deployed without requiring your consent and, therefore, cannot be disabled.
- Functional (or “Preferences”) Cookies: These cookies enable our Websites to provide enhanced functionality and personalization, including services and tools we have added to the Websites that are provided by other parties. These cookies are optional and in jurisdictions that require consent, will only be deployed after you provide such consent unless otherwise expressly stated. If you do not allow these cookies, some or all of the services or tools on our Websites may not function properly.
- Performance and Analytics Cookies: These are cookies that collect information about how you navigate and interact with a website, how you use a website, like which pages you visited and which links you clicked. They are cookies that may collect information such as IP address, browser type, device identifiers, timestamps, and session duration. They serve to evaluate and improve our Websites, tailor and optimize the Website experience based on observed interactions, and determine how best to market our services to you. These include cookies from third-party analytics services. These cookies are optional and in jurisdictions that require consent, will only be deployed after you provide such consent unless otherwise expressly stated.
- Targeting and Advertising Cookies: These are cookies used to deliver advertisements that are more relevant to you and your interests. They may collect information about your browsing behavior, interactions with websites, device identifiers, IP address, and online activities across websites, applications, or platforms over time. They are used to personalize advertising content, measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns, limit the number of times an advertisement is displayed, support audience analytics and market research, and enable retargeting and cross-platform advertising. These cookies may be placed by Capital Group or by our third-party advertising, analytics, and social media partners. These cookies are optional and in jurisdictions that require consent, will only be deployed after you provide such consent unless otherwise expressly stated.
Consent and Updating Your Cookie Preferences
Capital Group obtains user consent before deploying non-essential cookies or similar technologies. When you first visit our Websites, you will see a cookie banner that allows you to accept or reject non-essential cookies. In addition, you may be prompted to review and renew your cookie preferences periodically or whenever there are material changes to the categories, purposes, or third-party providers associated with the cookies and tracking technologies used across our Websites.
If you reside in the U.S.A or Canada, you may manage, update, or withdraw your consent preferences for optional cookies and other tracking technologies at any time through our cookie management tool, placed at the bottom right-hand side of your screen. If you reside in the European Union (“EU”), the United Kingdom (“UK”), Switzerland, and/or Asia Pacific countries, you can manage your preferences and view a detailed list of the cookies deployed on our Websites by clicking on the button, placed at the bottom right-hand side of your screen.
Lawful Bases
Depending on your jurisdiction and the type of cookies or tracking technologies used, Capital Group relies on one or more of the following or equivalent legal bases to process Personal Information collected through cookies and similar technologies:
- Consent: Where required by applicable law, we obtain your consent before placing or accessing non-essential cookies on your device. You may withdraw or modify your consent preferences at any time through our cookie management tool as described above.
- Legitimate interest: We may process certain information collected through cookies where such processing is necessary for our legitimate business interests, including maintaining website security, improving website functionality and performance, understanding user engagement, and enhancing your user experience, provided that such interests are not overridden by applicable regulatory requirements.
- Contractual necessity: Certain cookies and related technologies are required to provide services requested by you, enable core website functionality, authenticate users, maintain secure sessions, and fulfill our contractual obligations in connection with the use of our Websites and services. Contractual necessity is relied upon only where the processing is required to deliver the specific service you have requested.
- Legal and Regulatory Obligations: We may process Personal Information collected through cookies where necessary to comply with applicable legal requirements.
Interest-Based Advertising (“IBA”)/Cross-Context Behavioral Advertising
Capital Group may engage in interest-based advertising and cross-context behavioral advertising, which involves the use of information collected across our Websites and other online services, as well as across third-party websites, applications, and platforms over time, to deliver advertising that is more relevant to users’ inferred interests. This activity may involve the use of cookies, pixels, identifiers, and similar tracking technologies to understand user interactions, build audience segments, and measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns.
Such processing may constitute “cross-context behavioral advertising” or “sharing” of Personal Information under applicable laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (“CPRA”), and may also involve profiling or targeted advertising activities under other applicable privacy and data protection laws. Where legally required, we will obtain your consent before engaging in such processing, and you may opt-out of interest-based advertising through our “Ad Choices” cookie management tool or other available privacy controls, including browser-based signals such as Global Privacy Controls (“GPC”), where applicable.
Capital Group participates in applicable industry self-regulatory programs, including the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada (“DAAC”), which provides users with transparency and choice regarding interest-based advertising and access to industry opt-out mechanisms such as AdChoices.
Global Privacy Control (“GPC”) settings
Where required by applicable law, Capital Group recognizes and processes opt-out preference signals transmitted through the GPC mechanism in your browser or device as a valid request to opt of the sale or sharing of Personal Information for cross-context behavioral advertising or to suppress and limit third-party data sharing, as defined under applicable privacy and data protection laws.
When a user’s browser or device communicates a GPC signal, we will apply that preference to the browser or device from which the signal is sent and treat it as a request to limit the use and disclosure of Personal Information for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes. You may continue to manage your privacy choices directly through our “Ad Choices” cookie management tool or other available privacy controls.
Cookie Retention
Cookies and similar tracking technologies used by Capital Group may remain on a user’s device for different periods of time depending on their purpose and functionality. Some cookies are “session cookies”, which are automatically deleted when a user closes their browser or ends a browsing session, while others are “persistent cookies”, which remain on the device until they expire or are manually deleted by you.
Minors statement
Our Websites and any applications we support are not directed to, intended for, or designed to attract children or minors under the age at which consent for the processing of Personal Information is required under applicable law. Capital Group does not intentionally collect, use, sell, share, or process Personal Information from children or minors through cookies, tracking technologies, or other online data collection mechanisms without appropriate authorization or consent, where required by law.

We may update this Cookie Notice periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
