Several Countries Have Had Longer Expansions Than the U.S.

Some worry that this U.S. recovery is long in the tooth, but the current expansion continues to show that age is nothing but a number. Several countries have enjoyed significantly longer expansions in the past, including Australia, whose current run tops the list of the longest in history. Although the U.S. is likely closer to the end of this cycle than the beginning and political uncertainty remains, there are few signs of imbalances building in the economy and reason to believe the expansion can continue.
